Flamenco Teacher
Raquel Tacon
Raquel Tacon runs a flamenco dance studio in Orlando. She has been dancing flamenco for over thirty years. Raquel says she was “born to dance” and has studied ballet and classical Spanish and flamenco dancing at schools and tablaos (taverns) in Madrid. As a teenager she began touring with Manolo “Caracol” Theatrical Dance Company in Spain, and has been dancing with other dance companies as well as with her own group ever since.
She performs at conventions, workshops, and other public events, including the Winter Park Art Festival, St. Augustine Festival, Orlando Expo Centro's Hispanic Festival, and Valencia Community College Performing Arts Theatre. In addition to teaching and performing dance, Raquel is active in promoting Spanish and Hispanic culture in the Orlando area. She founded La Casa de España (a Spanish cultural organization in Central Florida) and in 2002 was named an honorary Vice Consul of Spain in Orlando.
