Summer Intensive

June 26th - July 31st, 2023

Dancers, get seen by Artistic Directors!

RBO goes above and beyond for our summer intensive students. We fly in Artistic Directors so advanced students have the opportunity to be recruited by professional ballet companies.

Training

The Summer Intensive is designed to develop advanced-level techniques and artistry.

Selected dancers will experience the environment of a professional performing company. Within the 5-week intensive, dancers will take daily ballet technique classes, pointe, variations, partnering, contemporary, and stretch conditioning while preparing for a performance of Sleeping Beauty.

Opportunities

All dancers participating in the summer program will perform in Sleeping Beauty.

Our Summer Intensive "professional division" will be training with RBO Company dancers throughout the whole summer. At the end of the Intensive production of Sleeping Beauty, we will grant up to 10 dancers a spot in the 2022/2023 Company Season.

Weekly Agenda

  • Week One

Dancers will be taking all of the technique classes and will be under close observation for casting.  You will learn and practice all the main classical male and female variations along with corps de ballet group choreography of the ballet. Casting for La Bayadere will be revealed at the end of the week.

  • Week Two

Weeks 2-4 will include guest Artistic Directors teaching master classes and observing and assisting with the rehearsal process.

  • Week Three & Four

Dancers will be taking all of the below classes, rehearsing their parts, and working on performance scenes.

Scenes fuse the production together to tell the story of the ballet and are one of the most challenging parts of every production.

  • Week Five

The last week is the most exciting one, where we finalize the performance and perfect the final details.  Run-throughs and dress rehearsals will take place all week long.

Ballet Company & Vaganova Academy

Our Story

Since 2000, Russian Ballet Orlando (RBO) has provided expert instruction and entertainment to the Orlando community through classes, workshops, and performances.

Many of RBO’s former students and company members fill the ranks of leading U.S. and international ballet companies.

All of our dancers enjoy real-world theatre experiences that equip them for successful transitions into major ballet companies.

  • Russian Ballet Orlando’s mission is to enrich, engage and educate students, performers, and audiences in the art of dance.

Through the education and training of our diverse group of students and professional dancers in the history of ballet and the performing arts, we strive to transform them into dancers ready to fill the ranks of leading ballet companies.

By engaging and entertaining audiences with our original choreographed productions around the local community and the state, we foster our community’s love and support of dance, creativity, and the performing arts.

RBO continues to engage the wider Florida community through tours and outreach performances and is happy to give back to our community.

We have the privilege to provide an ongoing offer of free ballet classes every second Sunday of the month, called Project Releve.

The annual free performance of The Nutcracker ballet, which has become a popular, much-anticipated event in downtown Orlando is also hosted and performed by the Russian Ballet Orlando.

  • Originally founded in 2000 by legendary Ukrainian Ballet Masters Vadim Fedotov and Irina Depler, The Russian Ballet Orlando (RBO) is a 501 (c) 3 Non-Profit organization and one of the pre-eminent ballet organizations in the United States. In 2021 they began their professional company. RBO has built a reputation presenting bold works that set the tone for the company's emergence as a powerhouse among Florida-based ballet companies.

    BORN IN KIEV, UKRAINE

Katerina Fedotova's parents, Vadim Fedotov and Irina Depler were Principal Dancers of the National Theater of Ukraine, leading her and her sister to be immersed in the theatrical world from the very beginning. They grew up within the walls of the 150 years historical “Kiev Theater", living in the fairy-tale world stage of the Russian Ballet.
